It is an antibiotic that belongs to a group of medicines called macrolides. These antibiotics work by killing or stopping the growth of the bacteria that are causing the infection.
Roxithromycin
Gastro-intestinal reactions: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, Allergic skin reactions, Dizzy spells.
Theophylline , ergotamine (Cafergot )or dihydroergotamine (Dihydergot tablets) , terfenadine , warfarin , digoxin , midazolam , ciclosporin , cisapride , pimozide.
It is an antibiotic of the macrolide group. It is recommended for ENT, bronchopulmonary, skin infections and in the prevention of meningococcal infections.
It must not be used in the following cases:- Known allergy to macrolides, such as erythromycin, josamycin etc.- In combination with ergot derivatives.
It is not recommended in Hepatic insufficiency, in combination with ergot derivatives, particularly ergotamine.
Do not use to treat any other complaints unless your doctor tells you to.
Check with your doctor if your child has or had the following medical conditions: Kidney problems (impaired function) or liver problems (hepatic cirrhosis with jaundice and /or ascites) .
Check with your doctor if your child plans to have surgery.
