How it works

Ammonium chloride increases acidity by increasing the amount of hydrogen ion concentrations. Ammonium chloride can be used as an expectorant due to its irritative action on the bronchial mucosa. It acts as a counter- irritant by imparting a cooling effect and by initially stimulating nociceptors and then desensitizing them.Chlorphenramin maleat acts as an inverse agonist at the H1 receptor, thereby reversing the effects of histamine on capillaries, reducing allergic reaction symptoms. menthol cause relaxing and cooling effect that soothes the throat.

Indication

Precaution

Theophylline should be used with caution and only if absolutely necessary in the following cases: Unstable angina , Patients at risk of tachyarrhythmia , Severe hypertension , Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy , Hyperthyroidism.

Patients administering Ammonium chloride should be watched to the signs of ammonia toxicity.
