Each enteric coated tablet contains:
Diclofenac Sodium BP.......... 75 mg

Description:
Diclofenac Sodium is rapidly absorbed into the plasma with peak levels occuring at nearly two hours. It is
extensively bound to proteins. The elimination half life is about 1.2 to 1.8 hours. Diclofenac penetrates rapidly
into synovial fluid. Peak levels in the synovial fluid of patients with active rheumatoid arthritis and chronic
joints effusions are achieved 2 to 4 hours after peak plasma levels following single or multiple dosing. Higher
synovial fluid levels are sustained for upto 12 hours after single or multiple dose therapy.
Indications:
Arnil is indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis,
osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, chronic juvenile arthritis and in other musculo-skeletal
disorders including periarthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, sprains & strains. Arnil also controls pain
and inflammation in acute gout, minor surgery and trauma.
Dosage and Administration:
Arnil 50 Tablets: 1 Tablet T.I.D or as directed by the Physician.
Arnil 75 Tablets: 1 Tablet B.I.D or as directed by the Physician.
Side Effects:
Arnil (Diclofenac Tablets B.P) is generally very well tolerated. Patients may sometimes complain of
mild headache, dizziness, nausea, diarrhoea, epigastric pain at the start of treatment which
usually disappears within few days without discontinuation of therapy, skin-rash, peripheral
oedema and slightly increase in transaminase value has infrequently been reported.
Contraindications:
Sensitivity to Diclofenac Sodium, peptic ulceration, asthma. Where patients are hypersensitive
to aspirin or other prostaglandin synthetase inhibitor

Cautions:
As with other NSAIDs periodic monitoring of liver enzymes, creatinine, blood count and
urinalysis should be carried out. Avoid in patients with a history of peptic ulcer, haematemesis
or in patients with severe hepatic or renal insufficiency. Rarely as with other NSAIDs,
anaphylaxis, laryngeal spasm and bronchospasm has been reported.
Drug Interactions:
Concomitant administration of Diclofenac and Aspirin is not recommended because
Diclofenac is displaced from binding sites and biliary excretion is increased, resulting in lower
plasma concentrations. Study in healthy subjects indicate that Diclofenac Sodium decreases
renal clearance of lithium. Concomitant use of gluco-corticoids with NSAIDs, may aggravate the G.I.side-effects.
